Search Allegany County Court Records Online

The Maryland Judiciary Case Search is the main online tool for finding Allegany County court records. It is free and open to the public. You can search by name, case number, or citation number. Name searches use exact matching by default, but you can add a percent sign after a name (like "Smith%") to get broader results. The system lets you filter by case type, county, date range, and case status.

Search results show case numbers, party names, filing dates, case types, current status, docket entries, hearing dates, and final dispositions. What you will not find are scanned document images, transcripts, or any sealed or expunged files. Case data updates overnight, so recent filings may not appear right away. Criminal records for Allegany County go back to 1999 in the online system. Civil records are also available through Case Search. The system is not intended for background checks and should not be used as one.

In 2024, the Maryland Judiciary made a notable change: cases that ended in dismissal, nolle prosequi, or acquittal are no longer shown online. Stet cases that are three or more years old were also removed. These changes affect what you see when searching, but the physical records still exist and can be accessed in person at the courthouse.
