Finding Court Records Online

The Maryland Judiciary Case Search at casesearch.courts.state.md.us is the free public database for Montgomery County court records. It covers both Circuit and District Court cases. No account or registration is required. The system was redesigned in February 2024 for better accessibility and usability.

You can search by party name, case number, or citation number. Name searches use exact matching by default. Add a percent sign after at least the first letter for partial results. For example, "Taylor%" returns all last names beginning with Taylor. Filters let you narrow by case type, court type, county, date range, and status codes. Results list the case number, parties, filing date, case type, and status. Click into a case to view docket entries, attorney information, hearing dates, and the final disposition.

Since the 2024 update, criminal cases resulting in dismissal, nolle prosequi, or acquittal no longer appear in online search results. Stet cases older than three years are also removed from public view online. These records still exist and can be accessed in person at the Rockville courthouse. Case Search data updates nightly. It is not real time. Full case documents are not available through Case Search. Parties to a case can access full documents through MDEC at mdcourts.gov/eservices/eportal.

Note: Case Search is a public summary tool. Full pleadings, evidence, and transcripts require an in-person visit to the clerk's office in Rockville.
